BOOK COVER SERIES: HUMAN IMPACT
SCHOOL PROGRAM PROJECT
For this project, I received the book Nature’s Ghosts. I then chose two additional books with a similar topic. The unifying topic for these three books is human relationships with animals. Nature’s Ghosts confronts our involvement with extinction, A perfect Harmony shows the history of how we have treated animals, and The Errant Ark explores the ways in which we have viewed animals.
My main concept was to incorporate animals into human landscapes to convey our involvement with nature. To further the notion that human intervention is harming the existence of animals, I created the shadows of animals to imply their absence. I did this by shining a light onto animal figurines, taking a picture and using photoshop to crop out the shadows. I also took pictures around the city of Atlanta and the suburbs for the backgrounds.
